She plays piano, and he plays trumpet. Together, they make music. She is Cava Menzies and he is Nick Phillips. In 2014, they gave us an offering entitled “Moment To Moment”, and they have been going strong ever since. I don’t know how they managed to find each other and create such a monumental team, but I give thanks to whomever is responsible. I mean it. The sounds that she makes with those keys are beyond description. The mellow and hypnotic notes that he produces with a trumpet are sheer joy. And when the two join forces it is no less than heaven on earth.
Like many other recordings, this is one that needs no shuffling, no skipping, nor bypassing any tracks – hit play and stay til the end. OK – “Mal’s Moon” is my absolute favorite, but they are all treasures! Sit back and be amazed.
