As a fitting end to our week of tributes to “The Instruments Of Jazz”, I offer up my final tribute to one that wasn’t mentioned all week. However, it certainly stands out as an instrument of crucial significance to the story of jazz – the voice. Today’s playlist consists of jazz music that incorporates the voice with the other instruments of jazz. Keep in mind that The Founders will relax until next year when I finally give them their much-deserved praise. For now, I’m sticking with the more contemporary crew.
Long ago, when I first discovered jazz for myself, I was very much fascinated with vocalists. As time went on, I gravitated more towards instrumental music instead. Those songs that were enhanced with vocals did not vanish; they merely took a back seat in this lovely brain of mine. You will thank me for that because I have a lineup that will truly blow your mind. These voices have been curated by yours truly and compiled to make your ears give thanks. Bottle of red? Comfy accommodations? One thing left to do. You guessed it – hit it!! Enjoy!
