I could not find much about Pete Dingon, as far as recorded music goes, but there IS one album with which I am quite familiar, The Trumpet Man From New York City (Pete Dingon Presents) (Tyranno Lounge Records, 2018). From the moment that I heard the first note of the first song, I knew this album was a certified keeper. That first note came from the song “Rainy Day In New York City”, and it has made the rounds from one playlist of mine to another ever since. On more than one occasion, I’ve mentioned Jazz Flash, which refers to a song that creates a virtual transportation to a time in the past that makes my heart skip a beat. Well, here it is again (Rainy Day . . .). And I happen to love French, so the song “L’amour Est Mort” strikes a chord. Despite the meaning of the song, the music puts a smile on my face. He is joined on this outing by Velvet Lounge Project on three (3) tracks, two (2) tracks by DJ Sleeptalker, and one (1) each by Brook Sapphire and Anthony Island. Forget that I have only found one recording and take my word for it that this one is ESSENTIAL for any jazz lover’s collection. Now, find that play button and have some fun!
