I blew it. I really, really blew it. I was determined to reboot by the beginning of the year. Oh, c’mon – yes, I mean THIS year! Unfortunately, life sometimes gets in the way of having a good time, and time restraints were the biggest deterrent. I’m not going to say whose fault THAT was – I mean, after all, there’s no need to point fingers, because we’re all above that nonsense. So, in lieu of the beginning of the year, I decided to reboot today – my birthday. Why, thank you!! How old?! Really?! REALLY?! Let’s just say that I am “a day older than dirt” and leave it at that!! Sheesh!!
I love to write and writing this blog gives me pleasure beyond description. That being said, I strive to keep a very long streak going, this time around. I’ll start with a a playlist called “One Hundred”. It represents 100 of the songs that I’ve listened to more than anything else in 2024 (I know that you’re multitaskers, so stop right here, hit play, then return to read on. I’m feeling a bit “long-winded”. Lol). The plan was to take the easy way out and use a playlist that SPOTIFY creates each year, near year’s end. Unfortunately, lists like that need a cutoff date, considering all of the subscribers for whom they have to create lists. Such a cutoff would have left off more than a few of my favorite songs.
So, about the song that is at the top of the list (“Black Coffee” by Marga Sol), my guess is that I have played it no less than a few hundred times (probably more than that). That song is sooo mellow and sooo soothing!!! I trust that you’ll like it as much as I do. Seriously – I have let that song play for hours on end. When I hop in the car by myself and have a good little drive to take, I hit play, and let it play over and over and over. I kid you not.
“Adoro” by Mogambo Affair is also high on the list. I translated it (as much as I could) and one phrase that hit me hard was “I love the street where we met”, making it, without a doubt, a song of true adoration. “Vuela Alto” by Franco De Mulero (ft. Blank & Jones), “Amor” by Moreza, and “Whistle” by Marc Hartman have been in rotation for me for longer than I can remember. I could go on and on with a dissertation for each and every song, but I won’t. I’d also say that it’s time for the “DJ” to knock it off and get to the music, but I know that you are an obedient audience and you have already started without me. Good for you. Enjoy!! But, meet me back here on Monday morn for “. . . And Another One Hundred” for the Monday Morning Crew!
Jazz, jazz, and nothing but jazz. Well . . . sometimes.
